H. David Hermansdorfer

Howard David Hermansdorfer served as a judge for the Eastern District of Kentucky from 1972 to 1981. Hermansdorfer was born on April 11, 1931 in Ashland, Kentucky. He received a bachelor's degree from Princeton University in 1953 and a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1959. After law school, he returned to Ashland and practiced law until 1972. President Richard Nixon nominated Hermansdorfer on February 16, 1972 to serve as a judge on the Eastern District Court, to a newly created seat authorized by 84 Stat. 294. The Senate confirmed his nomination on March 2, 1972. Hermansdorfer served in this capacity until his resignation on January 31, 1981. He returned to Ashland, where he practiced law until his death on November 17, 2003.
