Harry Innes
Harry Innes was the first federal district judge of Kentucky. Innes was born in Caroline County, Virginia on January 4, 1752. He was educated in law and appointed commissioner to hear land claims in Abington, Virginia. In 1783, he was named a judge of the Supreme Court of Virginia for the District of Kentucky. Two years later, Innes resigned to become the attorney general for the District of Kentucky. When Congress passed the Judiciary Act of 1789, Innes was appointed the first US District Judge for Kentucky. Judge Innes died in Frankfort, Kentucky on September 20, 1816.
