Clifton Rhodes Bratcher

Clifton Rhodes Bratcher served as a judge for the Western District of Kentucky from 1970 to 1977. Bratcher was born in Morgantown, Kentucky on December 23, 1917. He served in World War II as a US Army sergeant from 1941 to 1945. After the War, he received his law degree from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1947. Bratcher served as the county attorney for Butler County, Kentucky from 1950 to 1953 and as chief assistant US Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky from 1953 to 1955. He practiced law in Owensboro from 1956 to 1970, when President Richard M. Nixon nominated him to serve as a judge on the Western District Court of Kentucky, to a seat authorized by 84 Stat. 294. The Senate confirmed his nomination on October 13, 1970. Bratcher served as chief judge from 1976 until his death on July 25, 1977.
