Ronald Edward Meredith

Ronald Edward Meredith served as a judge for the Western District of Kentucky from 1985 to 1994. Meredith was born on January 30, 1946 in Clarkson, Kentucky. He received his bachelor's degree from Georgetown College in 1967 and his law degree from George Washington University Law School in 1971. Following graduation, Meredith worked as minority counsel on a Senate subcommittee on penitentiaries. He then became a legislative assistant for US Senator Marlow W. Cook. In 1976, Meredith returned to Kentucky and settled in Elizabethtown to practice law until 1980. During these years, Meredith also served as chair of the Second Congressional District for the state Republican Party of (1976-1980) and chair of the Republican Party of Kentucky in 1979. From 1981 to 1985, Meredith was the US attorney for the Western District. President Ronald Reagan nominated Meredith on February 27, 1985 to serve as a judge for the Western District, to a seat newly authorized by 98 Stat. 333. The Senate confirmed his nomination on April 3, 1985. He served on the bench until his death on December 1, 1994.
