Claria Boom
Judge, Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, 2018-
Claria Horn Boom is a "swing" judge for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. Boom was born in 1969 in Ashland, Kentucky. She received her bachelor's degree in 1991 from Transylvania University and her law degree in 1994 from Vanderbilt University Law School. Following law school, Boom clerked for the Honorable Pierce Lively on the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. In 1998, she became a federal prosecutor, first at the US Attorney's Office (USAO) in the Western District of Kentucky, and then at the USAO in the Eastern District. Three years later, she left the prosecutor's office to develop a private practice in Lexington, Kentucky. In 2017, President Donald J. Trump nominated her to serve as a judge for both the Eastern and Western District Courts, to a seat vacated by Judge Jennifer B. Coffman. The Senate confirmed her nomination on April 10, 2018.
